Are creation scientists REAL SCIENTISTS?
Some scientists and professors today like to say there are no true scientists who don’t believe in Evolution.
They might admit there are some arguments about the exact path of Evolution. Still, they think any real scientist must believe in Evolution. Real scientists, in their superior opinion, can’t believe in any sort of special creation of the universe.
In fact, they give off the impression that only Bible thumping fanatics believe God created the world.
For example, the very famous Evolutionist Sir Julian Huxley wrote, “The first point to make about Darwin’s theory is that it is no longer a theory, but a fact. No serious scientist would deny the fact that evolution has occurred, just as he would not deny the fact that the earth goes around the sun.” (1)
But last time I checked the word “Science” means “ “Knowledge” or more specifically “ “the state of knowing”. (2)
I checked the definition in the dictionary. Science does not mean “Evolution.”
And what about the word “Scientist?” The definition here is “a person learned in science”.
Hmmm…what do you know? The definition of scientist is not “a person who believes Evolution is what happened in the past.”
But too many people think you have to believe in Evolution to be a scientist.
The truth is there are thousands of fully qualified scientists who don’t believe the theory of Evolution. (3)These scientists are really smart too.
They have advanced degrees from secular (non-religious) schools. In fact, more than a thousand fully qualified scientists are members of the Creation Research Society.
For example, Dr. Duane T. Gish is a Bio-chemist with a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley. Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson has a Ph.D. from Harvard. Dr. Larry Vardiman has a Ph.D. in astro/geophysics from Colorado State University.
I thought about listing the other 997, but my typing fingers are sore.
Others are working professors who have published science-shattering papers. One example is Dr. Michael J. Behe; he is professor of Biochemistry at Lehigh University.
Dr. Behe published the book “Darwin’s Black Box”. This book slams shut any notion that life could have come about by any accidental chemical process.
Even some scientists who are not creationists are willing to recognize that Evolution by natural selection doesn’t fit the facts.
They realize that some form of “creative intelligence” must have been involved in the history of life. These sorts of scientists are not creation scientists - but they don’t believe in Evolution by natural selection either.
One example is Dr. Michael Denton, M.D., Ph.D; He is a molecular biologist at the University of Otago in New Zealand.
Dr. Denton wrote a book called “Evolution: A Theory In Crisis.” He is certainly a fully qualified scientist who doubts Evolution by natural selection.
So - not EVERY REAL scientist believes in Evolution by natural selection.
The truth is there are plenty of fully qualified scientists who think the theory of Evolution is not supported by the facts of science.
But the attitude that Creation Scientists or Intelligent Design scientists are not real scientists still hangs around.
Not only are there thousands of fully qualified scientists who are Creationists or anti-Evolutionists today – there were many more in the past.
Creation Scientists have made the greatest discoveries in the history of science – bar none!
Now – you might be thinking: “Sure, but the reason they were Creationists in the past is because Evolution hadn’t been described by science yet.” But that’s not true at all.
The idea that the world made itself by some natural process has been around since the ancient Greeks.
Darwin wasn’t really saying anything new. Darwin was just trying to show how a natural process might work. The idea he came up with is called “natural selection”.
Not one of these...
Many great scientists disagreed with Darwin back in 1859 and many very qualified scientists still do today.
The truth is, the greatest discoveries in science were made by Creation Scientists in the past. These creation scientists believed they were “thinking God’s thoughts after Him.”
Their belief in the Bible and in God did not slow down their studies at all.
In fact – the whole IDEA of the scientific method was developed by Sir Francis Bacon; he was a Creationist. He believed the Bible showed us God’s plan and purpose for life.
He also believed God showed His power in the things that were created
Bacon wrote, “There are two books laid before us to study, to prevent our falling into error; first, the volume of the Scriptures, which reveal the will of God; then the volume of the Creatures, which express His power.” (4)
Dr. Henry Morris put together a list of important Creation Scientists. These guys started 41 scientific disciplines. (5)
These are some of the most important sciences ever described.
|Calculus||Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1727)|
|Chemistry||Robert Boyle (1627-1691)|
|Electrodynamics||James Clerk Maxwell (1831-1879)|
|Gas Dynamics||Robert Boyle (1627-1691)|
|Genetics||Gregor Mendel (1822-1884)|
|Systematic Biology||Carolus Linnaeus (1707-1778)|
But don’t forget:
Just to name a few…
And what about major inventions?
Creation Scientists have discovered or invented some of the greatest scientific things in history. They include:
|The Law of Gravity||Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1727)|
|The Scientific Method||Sir Francis Bacon (1561-1626)|
|Pasteurization||Louis Pasteur (1822-1895)|
|Chloroform||James Simpson (1811-1870)|
|Barometer||Blaise Pascal (1623-1662)|
But don’t forget:
Just to name a few more…
So – the bottom line: when someone says that Creation Scientists or Intelligent Design scientists are not REAL scientists – you know that’s just not true.
Both in the past and living today, Creationists have and continue to make great contributions to science.

They may reject evolution, but they do have bona fide post-graduate degrees in some field of pure or applied science from accredited universities; they have published scientific research papers in their fields; and they make their living by practicing or teaching science.”
